Music composition competition for Brass Plus Festival’s official fanfare is now open

The Sudeten Philharmonic in Wałbrzych, the organiser of Brass Plus Festival, announces a music composition competition which aims to find an official fanfare for this event.

On the 21st of February 2025 the 2nd edition of Brass Plus Festival was inaugurated. The first concert of the festival began with Aaron Copland’s “Fanfare for the Common Man”. Having already planned the next editions and wanting to expand the festival, Sudeten Philharmonic’s director Joanna Kawalec and the festival’s artistic director Grzegorz Mondry announced a music composition competition to find an official fanfare for Brass Plus Festival. Composers can enter their compositions up until the 16th of January 2026.

Competition’s goals and rules

The competition aims to select a brand-new composition that will become Brass Plus Festival’s official fanfare. The winning piece will be performed during all forthcoming editions of the festival and will become it’s representative piece. The first performance will take place on the 20th of February 2026 – during the inauguration of Brass Plus Festival’s 3rd edition.

The competition will provide following awards:

Main award – 3000 PLN
