Program for the upcoming season at the Sudeten Philharmonic announced

Two days before the 47th season’s final concert, the Sudeten Philharmonic announced the program for the upcoming 2025/2026 season. The new program was first announced during a press conference that took place on the 18th of June 2025.

The press conference was hosted by: Joanna Kawalec – Sudeten Philharmonic’s acting Director, Maciej Tomasiewicz – Sudeten Philharmonic’s Symphonic Orchestra Art Director and Krystyna Swoboda – Head of the Event Organization and Promotion Department.

The Sudeten Philharmonic’s 48th season will continue a lot of the previous season’s core principles, however many new projects will be introduced as well.

So far, nearly 80 concerts were announced, including symphonic, chamber, choral and vocal ones. Musical and opera lovers will also find many interesting events for themselves. During the entire season, many acclaimed conductors and musicians will visit Wałbrzych.

The season will be inaugurated with a concert on the 26th of September. Antoni Wit will be its conductor, and Hyuk Lee the soloist. The program includes works of Józef Wiłkomirski, Fryderyk Chopin and Antonín Dvořák. It won’t be the only concert in September, however. Before the inauguration takes place, listeners will have a chance to hear Vivaldi’s Four Seasons in September 12th concert “Spring, summer, fall… Baroque!”. And on September 14th the first Families Concert of the season will take place. This concert cycle is especially popular with the youngest music lovers and their families.

A new addition in the 2025/2026 season are the Chopin Recitals, which are put on in coordination with the Fryderyk Chopin Institute. During this concert cycle, lovers of Chopin’s music will have a chance to listen to his compositions live, performed by up-and-coming pianists – all of whom were qualified to take part in the XIX International Fryderyk Chopin Piano Competition. Chopin Recitals will be put on from August to November of 2025.

The Sudeten Philharmonic will continue to put on various festivals during the 48th season. The 3rd edition of the Christmas Festival (12th-20th of December 2025) and the 3rd edition of Brass Plus Festival (20th of February-1st of March 2026), as well as the 23rd Princess Daisy Festival are already planned. Following the previous years, there will also be a weekend dedicated to film soundtracks (17th-19th of October 2025), as well as New Year’s Eve, Valentine’s Day, Women’s Day and Children’s Day concerts. It will also be a jubilee season – the program includes concerts dedicated to celebrating the former Sudeten Philharmonic director Jerzy Kosek (October 10th 2025), the 500th anniversary of reformation in Wałbrzych (October 31st 2025), as well as concerts and a special panel for the 100th anniversary of Józef Wiłkomirski’s birthday (May 15th-17th 2025).

While preparing the new season, the Sudeten Philharmonic also took into consideration its most loyal listeners insights. It resulted in the inclusion of themed concerts into the season’s program. The concerts will focus on classical music from different corners of the world – Scandinavia, Japan, Hungary, Italy and Poland.

The Filharmonia w Królewskiej concert cycle which allowed the Philharmonic to put on concerts in Legnica will also be continued. The Sudeten Philharmonic will also continue its close cooperation with Agnieszka Franków-Żelazny, who will conduct concerts both in Wałbrzych and Legnica.
