The Sudeten Philharmonic Children’s Choir was established in September 2022 on the initiative of Agnieszka Franków-Żelazny, Director of the Sudeten Philharmonic.
Mission of the Sudeten Philharmonic Children’s Choir
The mission of the Sudeten Philharmonic Children’s Choir in Wałbrzych is to create a free educational and artistic space for children whose passion is singing. A musical space open to children from all cultural and economic backgrounds. Our mission is also to provide a unique programme of music education and choral performance that aims to use and develop the potential of each child, while creating a model of artistic excellence that enriches the personality of each child and the broader community.
Classes in the Sudeten Philharmonic Children’s Choir
Participating in the activities of the Sudeten Philharmonic Children’s Choir stimulates imagination and musicality, and the appropriate selection of emission exercises and repertoire allows you to improve your voice, diction, sense of rhythm and shapes your musical interests. The Sudeten Philharmonic provides all talented children who want to sing with the opportunity to participate in the Choir’s activities free of charge, as well as to perform on the stage of the Sudeten Philharmonic together with the Sudeten Philharmonic Orchestra already at the initial stage of musical development, which is a huge artistic, educational and upbringing value for children, the great adventure of their lives.
During the choral classes, children work on their sense of rhythm by performing rhythm and movement exercises and learn to prepare their body and voice for work through relaxation, breathing, articulation and phonation exercises. Later in the classes, the choristers work on a repertoire that has been adapted to their vocal abilities.
The Sudeten Philharmonic Children’s Choir is conducted in two age groups:
Younger group – children aged 6 to 9 years
Older group – children and young people aged 10 to 15
Both groups rehearse twice a week. There are sectional and tutti rehearsals. The Sudeten Philharmonic Children’s Choir is led by a committed, warm and friendly teacher and choirmaster, Ms Anna Kupczyńska.
